Inauguration of the Omaruru Branch of Botsoc. Illustrated talk by Karen Nott. “Namibia’s Vanishing Plants: Combating poaching of live succulent plants from north-western Namibia.”

August 22 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 pm

We are pleased to announce the opening of a branch of the Botanical Society in Omaruru. We will be hosting our inaugural meeting on Saturday 22 August from 10h00-11h30 at  Anrika Park,  92 Wilhelm Zeraua Street (C33), Omaruru. (Entrance via gravel road next to the Shell Garage).

Botsoc is horrified at the poaching (illegal gathering & trade) of live plants that is taking place at an alarming rate across the country. Luckily, the authorities are aware of this and are taking measures to combat this.   Karen Nott will share with us what is happening in Kunene Region.

The talk has been scheduled for a Saturday morning so that farmers and others living out of town can attend.

All welcome.  Entrance free. Donations welcome.

Refreshments will be available after the presentation.
