Talks and presentations are generally scheduled for the third Thursday of the month and are held at the National Botanical Research Institute at 8 Orban Street, Windhoek.
Usually every second Saturday of the month, from 08:00-10:45 in summer (September to April) or 08:30-11:00 in winter (May to August) at the National Botanical Gardens, 8 Orban Street, Windhoek.
Usually long weekends or one-day excursions led by a knowledgable guide. They are planned and advertised in our newsletter, social media and website.
Held on the third Thursday in October, in conjunction with Arbor Day celebrations, the Annual Tree Awards acknowledge people who protect or promote indigenous trees.
Usually held in conjunction with Namib Trees, a nursery in Windhoek selling indigenous plants. Refreshments are on sale as well as books and other BotSoc items.
BotSoc recognises and often celebrates designated days such as Arbor Day, World Environment Day, International Day for Biological Diversity and others.
We call on all creative minds to design a logo for a T-shirt to commemorate the occasion. Anyone can enter up to 3 designs. It obviously has to be something about plants, must have the name Botsoc or Botanical Society of Namibia and must include 30.
